Manivannan who was a director also donned character roles in numerous films. Today morning he passed away due to cardiac arrest at his residence. He was aged 59 years. Manivannan has so far directed 50 films including Gopurangal Saivadhillai, 24 Mani Neram, Nooravathu Naal, Palaivana Rojakkal, Jallikattu, Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi, Pudhu Manithan and Amaidhi Padai. Many of the leading directors including Vikraman, R K Selvamani, Sundar C and Seeman were his protégés. Apart from directing films, he had donned character roles in more than 400 films. He passed away at 11 a m today due to cardiac arrest in his residence located in Nesapakkam, Chennai. All the members of the Tamil film industry are paying their final tribute. The funeral rites will take place tomorrow.
