Federation of Islamic Movements against Kamal Hassan
The movie Viswaroopam has taking many turn and twists before and now it has reach its climax! Even though the tickets for the movie have been sold out we really don’t know the actual release date!
"The madras High Court has banned the release of the film for two weeks in Tamil Nadu citing ‘law and order reasons’."
"A total of 23 organisations under the banner of Federation of Islamic Movements and Political Parties claimed the actor had a history of portraying Muslims in "bad light". ’ Kamal Hassan innocently asked whether he would do such a thing, but the Muslim outfits are still showing their condemnation very strongly.
Kamal Hassan states ""I have been ruthlessly used as a vehicle by small groups who seek political profile. Icon bashing is a great way to be noticed when you are not one yourself. It is happening again and again. Any neutral and patriotic Muslim will surely feel pride on seeing my film. It was designed for that purpose."
"Now I will rely on law and logic to come to our support. This kind of cultural terrorism will have to stop," he added.
According to A K Mohammaed Haneefa, coordinator of the federation wanted Kamal to screen the movie for them before releasing it. With no alternatives Kamal Hassan screened the movie to member of the Islam Outfit in his Eldams Road office.
In the movie, official of Indian intelligence wing goes to Afghanistan with dance troop. He gives training to member of Al Qaida outfit. As they ask for Tamil Jihads, Kamal Haasan says that they are in Coimbatore and Madurai
Enraged by seeing the scene they laid seize on Commissioner’s Office. "I am not only hurt by these accusations of denigrating a community but my sensibilities are truly insulted," said Kamal.
"I have always gone beyond the call of my duty as an actor to voice my opinion in favour of what was humane and civil. I have been part of an organization called Harmony India which worked for Hindu Muslim amity," he added.
Latest news on the release of the movie is that Tamil and Telugu versions will be aired on DTH a week after theatrical release
